A skeleton Leaf as brooch inspired by Japanese aesthetics
The skeleton of the leaf and the city’s plan, the eternal dance between urban expansion and nature. These two concrete brooches are a tribute to Japanese aesthetics and the architecture of nature.
That shouldn’t be surprising, because the combination of blue and white is the “most natural thing in the world”. One look at the sky is enough. In all likelihood, people there have always seen blue and white. The sea also shimmers in blue and white.
The relationship between nature and the metropolis is often perceived as an antithetical and conflictual relationship.
The dichotomy of metropolis and nature is thus recomposed in a circular path: the wilderness, removed in the formative moment, regains its space in the urban landscape through public parks and, in a less planned and more irrational way, reappears in the abandoned areas of industrial cities in deep economic crisis.
The universal natural colours blue and white, run like a robust thread through Japanese mythology, history, literature, crafts and art. The fact that this colour combination struck such deep roots may also be because artists and craftsmen in Japan have always primarily oriented themselves towards the motifs of nature. For a long time in Japan, only natural things were considered aesthetically beautiful.
